Learn About FR3 Dielectric Fluid Recycling

Industrial recycling site with drums and tanks labeled for dielectric fluid collection.

DFQ Recycling is one of the few specialist recyclers in the Greater Houston area handling used Envirotemp FR3 dielectric fluid. FR3 is a vegetable-based, biodegradable transformer oil designed to replace mineral oil in distribution and pad-mount transformers — and unlike mineral oil, it is fully reclaimable and EPA-designated as non-toxic in soil and water.

If your utility, contractor, or industrial site has faulty FR3-filled transformers — or has drained FR3 in drums, totes, or bulk tanks — we will pick it up across Houston, TX. What we accept: FR3 fluid still inside faulty distribution transformers; drained FR3 in drums (55-gallon and smaller); bulk FR3 in totes or tanker loads; and mixed loads where FR3 is the primary fluid.

Our process is simple: send us photos and an estimated volume; we respond with a fair-market quote within 24 hours; sampling and testing on-site if required; EPA-compliant transport to our reclamation partner.

Why FR3 is Worth Recycling

Flash point of about 330°C versus 155°C for mineral oil — safer to handle and store; extends transformer paper insulation life up to eight times longer than mineral oil; biodegradable and non-toxic in soil and water; and fully reclaimable to keep it out of the waste stream.

We pick up drums, totes, and bulk tanker loads across Houston and Texas at no costs, so your team avoids the logistics, the liability, and the landfill.
